If the leak is significant, yes. Use the main shutoff (usually at the curb or where the line enters your house). For a small drip, just shut off the local angle stop under the sink or behind the toilet. We'll talk you through it on the phone.

Do you patch the drywall after the repair?

We cut clean access and pull the dry piece for re-use where we can. Full drywall patch and texture-match is its own trade. We offer it as an add-on, but many customers handle it with their own drywall guy or DIY.

Will my insurance cover the leak repair?

Insurance usually covers resulting water damage (drywall, flooring, contents) but not the pipe repair itself. We can write the invoice in a format that supports the claim. Call your adjuster the same day you discover the leak.

Same-Day Shut-Off And Isolation

Tech identifies the leak, kills the right valve (sometimes whole-house, sometimes just one fixture), and stops the water damage in the first 5-10 minutes on-site.

Copper, PEX, PVC, Galvanized

We work with every common SFV pipe material including copper sweat or press, PEX, PVC, and galvanized transitions. The fittings are already on the truck.

Fittings, Valves, And Hose Bibs

Angle stops, supply valves, supply lines, and hose bibs swapped on the same visit. Common failures replaced with rated parts, not the cheap big-box version.

Clean Drywall Access Cut

When the leak is in-wall, we cut a small, clean access. Pull the dry piece for re-use where possible. Full patch and texture-match is its own trade and stays optional.

Pressure-Tested Before We Leave

Water back on, pressure watched for several minutes, zero drip confirmed. We don't pack tools until the repair is verified holding.

Our Step-By-Step Process

Step 1
Shut Off And Isolate

Tech walks straight to the leak within 30 seconds of arriving. Shut off the right valve: sometimes whole-house at the main, sometimes just the local angle stop under the sink, sometimes the cold-side stop on the water heater. Goal is to stop new water damage before any quote conversation. 5 to 10 minutes. You point the tech to where you've seen the water, then step out of the work area so the floor stays accessible. If you've already shut the water off yourself, tell the tech which valve so we don't waste time looking.
Step 2
Expose The Leak

Visible leak under a sink or on a hose bib goes straight to repair. In-wall leaks need a small clean access cut, drywall scored carefully, the dry piece pulled and saved for re-use where possible (rather than crushed and tossed). Slab and behind-finish leaks may already be located from a detection visit. 10 to 30 minutes for access depending on where the leak is. You'll hear a drywall saw or oscillating tool for in-wall work. Stay out of the immediate area to keep dust off your stuff.
Step 3
Quote And Approve

Tech shows you the failure point: cracked copper, split PEX, failed solder joint, corroded galvanized fitting, broken angle stop. Flat-rate quote written on a work order. You see the parts coming off the truck (rated angle stops, copper, PEX, fittings). 5 to 10 minutes for the conversation. You approve the work in writing, then we proceed. No 'we'll just fix it and add it to the bill.'
Step 4
Execute The Repair

Cut out the failed section. Sweat copper, press copper, crimp PEX, glue PVC, or thread galvanized depending on what your home runs. Code-compliant materials only. Most simple leaks get repaired in 30 to 90 minutes. Bigger jobs (multiple failures, hidden corrosion, repipe section) take longer and we tell you in advance. You can stay in the house, just stay out of the work room.
Step 5
Pressure Test And Clean Up

Water back on slowly so we don't water-hammer the system. Tech watches pressure at the failure point for 5 to 10 minutes, confirms zero drip, and runs the closest fixture to verify normal flow. Tools loaded. Drywall dry piece replaced where possible (full patch and texture-match is its own trade and stays optional). Floor wiped, area swept, work order signed. You walk through it with the tech before we leave. Total visit usually 1 to 3 hours start to finish.
